Hi Kerry, I used to know the butterflies, but I need to study them again. I am reasonably certain that it is some type of Fritillary.
There is a Spangled or Great Spangled Fritillary and it could be one of those also your first comment by Mary is a possibility. At any rate it is some type of Fritillary, and it is a beautiful photograph!
Hi Kerri - I'm sorry I haven't visited for quite a while. I see you've been up to your usual beautiful photography. I enjoy seeing the butterflies - haven't seen many around here yet. The picture of your Mom and Dad is priceless and neither look like they are in their 80s! I hope I look so good when I'm that age.
I love butterflies very much but I don’t know much about them so that I could identify this one. But the photo is fantastic. The composition is great, the colors and tones and the light is just stunning!
I'm not a butterfly expert, either, Kerri. Takes a lot of time to look them up - but I think it might be a Gulf Fritillary. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt's very beautiful, Kerri. I can not take butterflies' photos because they fly away if I can up to them!

ReplyDeleteThere are few butterflies I can identify. I'm satisfied to enjoy their beauty. Nice shot.
ReplyDeleteTrying to identify butterflies makes identifying birds seem easy! I've got an Audubon book...I'll look later and let you know if I can name it.
ReplyDeleteI'm not good with names of butterflies or flowers. I just know they are pretty and make great pictures. :-)
ReplyDeleteMy biggest problem would just to take such a picture!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful ! I'm like you, there are so many too look at, and so many look alike.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what it is either! Beautiful shot though!
ReplyDelete\i don't know what he is but I love the pattern on his wings

ReplyDeleteI think that's the same type of butterfly that's on my post--Great Spangled or Aphrodite Fritillary.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great shot of the butterfly.
I absolutely love butterflies, but have never really learned the names of many. This photo is added to the list of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteNice capture of the butterfly Kerri!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
