This little guy is a first for me. I've never seen one of these butterflies before. I looked in my butterfly guide but could not find it ~ so again ~ I need all the help you can give me for ID :)
Updated: Found out this is an Eight spotted forester moth - not a butterfly at all. Very cool!
I believe this is a moth. I'll check back to see if anyone recognizes him. I say him, may be a she, anyway your photo is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteDon't know his ID but he is pretty nice :)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, it reminds me of some type of moth. Will be interesting to learn what it is.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful capture, Kerri!
ReplyDeleteI am unfamiliar with species in your area but this one is a moth becuase of the antennae. Butterflies have those little dotted antennae with balls on the end and moths have wavy ones. Some lovely photo's on here, I have really enjoyed looking through them all :D
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Don't know what it is either. Was it taken in VA? Do you have any other shots of it?
ReplyDeletesooo nice ;)
ReplyDeleteIts a beauty - whatever it is.
ReplyDeleteHe's beautiful, kinda like stained glass windows.
ReplyDeleteYou can make even moths look beautiful!
Beautiful Kerri - such lovely patterns on his wings!
ReplyDeleteI can't help you with this pretty little critter but I'm so glad to hear that all went well. Of course it did! :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome find Kerri! Lovely shot of it!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it awesome to see and photograph something you've never seen before?!?! It's such a rush for me.
