A Flying Tiger

Joy, I realized, isn't so much a circumstance you find yourself in but a choice you make
~ Lisa Wingate

I have always called this type of butterfly a Tiger Swallowtail but I also see it referred to as an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail ~ not sure which one is actually correct. (maybe both) The plant it is feeding on is abundant in my area and blooms in Spring (around May) but I am unsure of the name. If you know what it is, please comment and let me know.
Butterflies are one my GREATEST JOYS in the Spring and Summer!

  1. I've not seen very many butterflies yet this year. I did plant some milkweed seeds and hope to maybe see some Monarchs later in the season. He's beautiful Kerri. :c)

  16. Absolutely beautiful. I've seen a lot of butterflies this year, but don't know enough about them to call them by name - several deep purple and black.
