A Day for Dragons

When I took these - the dragonflies seemed to be out and about in full force at the local ponds If you couldn't tell, I am quite enamored with these little creatures! This was my very first "in flight" shot. Well, I've taken many of them before - but none ever turned out. This is the first one where you can actually tell it is a dragonfly :) I "think" this is a Calico Pennant. As always - I'm learning from YOU - so please correct me if I am wrong.
(NOW I think it is a Halloween Pennant)
This little guy said " cheeeeeese" and smiled when I took his picture :)
Hope your Day is filled with wonder and delight!

  2. Their wings are pure gold in the sunshine! The first little guy reminds me of a spruced-up colorful biplane at an antique air show. Come to think of it, the analogy should be the other way around, shouldn't it!

  15. My daughter and I are so envious of your talent! We adore dragonflies, but the accomplishment of getting a great photo of one remains elusive for both of us. LOL, your images motivate us to keep trying. Have a great week, Kerri.

  18. Lovely shots Kerri! The first one is amazing and the second is just so sweet! :)

I just learned this on Wednesday and thought you'd enjoy it: Airfighter pilots' suits are designed after dragonfly skin that has a layer of liquid in between two skin layers that cushions against high g-forces. They experience some of the highest in nature. Crazy, huh?!

  20. Wonderful shots, Keri, The second one actually looks a little bashful I think with his wings kind of sideways. I know they must be so hard to capture. Diane
