One of my many blessings are the birds that visit my feeders. This is a Male Downy Woodpecker. He has such a vibrant spot of Red on his head!

Lovely. He's a bit like our Lesser Spotted Woodpecker here in the UK. Or is it Great Spotted Woodpecker? I never can remember :-)

ReplyDeleteWe have some around occasionally, they're always such curious creatures. Great shot!
Brilliant capture. We have several varieties that will be visiting my feeders soon. I let them forage for themselves through the spring and summer. Then I start filling the feeders in early to mid-November. Great Ruby Tuesday post.
ReplyDeleteAmazing little woodpecker. All bright and distinct in colors. Having his breakfast maybe?

ReplyDeleteDowney woodpeckers are so colorful and makes me excited when seeing them at the bird feeders. They just go about their business getting their own food and leaves all the other birds alone.
