Simply give others a bit of yourself; a thoughtful act, a helpful idea, a word of appreciation, a lift over a rough spot, a sense of understanding, a timely suggestion. You take something out of your mind, garnished in kindness out of your heart, and put it into the other fellow's mind and heart.

Such a beautiful bird!
ReplyDeleteHe is a handsome guy. His feathers do look a bit fluffed, he must be cold.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo and quote!
Thank you.
Kerri, I posted about a Stokes 4 Way Suet Feeder I found at Tractor Supply the other week. I am hoping it might attract more of these guys!
ReplyDeleteKerri - That is a great shot. Love the feathers around the beak!
ReplyDeleteI saw the suet feeder Jayne posted. It looks like a great one! I am also looking for one of those - these red bellies come daily to my single little suet feeder, (there is a family in a tree at the back of my yard - but a big one like Jayne showed may even bring the Pilleated if you have those around! Good luck and make sure to share with us what you get!
Hi Kerri, love your photo. I use a peanut feeder with a blend of corn and peanuts. The birds love it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous shot!! I love woodpeckers!
ReplyDeleteHowdee Kerri,
ReplyDeleteI didnt buy any special feeder for this guy..I just bought bark butter from the wild birds store ..i spread the bark butter on the bark of a tree...The woodpeckers love it..along with Ruby-crowned kinglets, titmice, and nuthatches.
Give it a try.
Happy Birding!

What a beauty of a shot!

Kerri, a most splendid photo of a handsome Red-bellied Woodpecker! The woodpeckers on our property (Downy, Hairy and Red-bellied) can't get enough of the suet. They visit all day long. The chickadees, titmice and nuthatches enjoy the suet as well. That 4 way suet feeder looks fabulous! I might have to purchase one of those.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful woodpecker! And he's sporting some of my favorite colors too!! Black and white with a pop of red! :-)
ReplyDeleteI rushed here as soon as I saw your post title because I knew it would be a beautiful woodpecker.
ReplyDeleteAnd, oh my stars - I was not disappointed! Oh, Kerri. You make me smile.
just love.
ReplyDeletethank you
Super beautiful shot, Kerri!!
ReplyDeleteWow, he really IS handsome! It looks like he knows it too.
ReplyDeleteThis summer a woodpecker pecked above my bedroom window in an area where I typically get carpenter bees. I let him peck because he was getting rid of the problem, plus I had a terrific view of him from the other room. I rarely see woodpeckers, so I'm assuming they're rare, flighty birds.
The bird has such beautiful colouring and markings. Great capture :)
ReplyDeletemagnifica captura! un pajaro-carpintero precioso
ReplyDeleteI found this after I saw your woodpecker photo: http://www.wild-bird-watching.com/Building_Bird_Houses.html Perhaps providing them a house would encourage them to hang around.
ReplyDeleteThat's a very beautiful Woodpecker!
ReplyDeleteWe've had a woodpecker pecking a hole right under the eave of our house. I love birds but I wish he would find another house to "pick" on. I've tried everything to "shoo" him away, but he is dauntless and just keeps coming back.
ReplyDeleteNice catch, beautiful photo Kerri!!
