Beautiful and graceful, varied and enchanting, small but approachable, butterflies lead you to the sunny side of life. And everyone deserves a little sunshine. ~Jeffrey Glassberg
My first butterfly "capture" for 2011. This was taken Monday 04/04/11. I had seen a few butterflies but hadn't been able to capture any with the camera. I must say that these lovely creatures really do bring sunshine into my life. In fact - this little guy was taken in a bit of shady area - but the sun came out and started shining on the very top of it's wings. Not sure you can see that in this shot - but it was quite a speical moment!
I am TERRIBLE at the ID on these little guys. I think it may be a Spring Azure.
He's gorgeous and matches the branch. Good shot. I've only seen one butterfly as well but he sort of went swooshing by me in this windy weather we have been having. Guess I'll have to wait for my butterfly shot this year.

Kerri,
ReplyDeleteAzures are very tricky. My thought on this is it is a 'early' Summer Azure. Spring Azures are not as crisp as this, they look slightly dingy or smudged.
I love the tinge of blue in his color. Wonderful shot!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I can see the little edge tip of sunshine. Beautiful highlight. And beautiful butterfly shot too! :-]

ReplyDeleteExquisite close-up, Kerri! Viewing this photo is a beautiful start to my morning. Can't wait to see my first 2011 butterfly ... it's been rather chilly here in Chicago.
ReplyDeleteI love how his color blends with the branch, like he's camouflaged. That is stunning. Just beautiful!

I think it's almost impossible to be mad in the presence of butterflies. :)

ReplyDeleteGood one! I saw a blue one last week, but the wind was obnoxious, so I couldn't get a clear shot. This is great!
