It seems to me that the natural world is the greatest source of excitement; the greatest source of visual beauty; the greatest source of intellectual interest. It is the greatest source of so much in life that makes life worth living.

About the Image: Taken 11-03-11 as I walked along Deerfield Trail - Blacksburg, VA. It was only my 4th ever sighting of a Brown Creeper - which made it a VERY exciting day for me. They blend in so well with the trees and normally stay on the shady side that I usually have to ID by silhouette. Such neat little birds!

Really does blend in with the wood of the tree... I had to look twice to find him. :-)
ReplyDeleteAh, most excellent. Good find, Kerri!
ReplyDeleteWay to go! Wonderful capture. The texture on the tree sure make it hard to spot him.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't see it at first. Good find!
ReplyDeleteAmazing camouflage! It's great that you even saw him!
ReplyDeleteGreat shot, this bird would be very hard to spot, it blends in so well with the surroundings.
ReplyDeletehow neat!
ReplyDeleteWatching creepers circle tree trunks is one of my favorite pastimes. You need to spot the movement, as they are so well camouflaged--but then--off they go spiraling!
ReplyDeleteGood eye, and cool find! Great camouflage for the bird:-)
ReplyDeleteIt was your lucky day. Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeletehe sure does blend with the tree!! i have never seen one!!
ReplyDeleteI am loving my visits to nature, and the Brown Creeper, thank you.
ReplyDeleteLovely post :o)
ReplyDeleteSweet little birds, aren't they? I don't see them to often either Kerri, but every once in a while they are on our crab apple tree outside the kitchen window.
ReplyDeleteJust want to thank you for all your wonderful photos. I just love birds and do not know the names, so your blog helps.
