Woodpecker Wink!

He was winking at me!

Red-bellied Woodpecker - Bisset Park - Radford Virginia
If you ever get to the Radford area,  I highly recommend a visit to Bisset Park
It has a lovely walking trail along the New River AND is a GREAT place for birding!

Time spent laughing is time well spent.

  2. Beautiful capture, Kerri! I was very excited last week to see my very first red-bellied woodpecker. I didn't get as good a photo as the one you got though. Now I 'll have to go back. ;))

  7. Love the Radford area. The only time I get down that way is when I have a dentist appt. I really need to come down and enjoy the area a bit more.

  9. Thanks for the chuckle! I sleep with my window open and about 4 a.m. this morning a woodpecker was getting his breakfast from the old oak tree right outside.

I've never seen a red-bellied woodpecker before. We have a different kind here...I forget the name...Downey Woodpecker or something like that.

  23. Kerrie,

Thanks for coming by. These are some gorgeous photos of the woodpecker. Very clear and lovely detail. I don't think I have ever seen a red-bellied woodpecker, but then I am in the Northwest. Hope you are having a great week.
